We had the opportunity to catch up with one of our Sales Managers, Vanessa Chance. Vanessa has been a Regional Sales Manager of Northern California for 2 and a half years, and has been in sales in the workers' comp industry for 10 years. Keep reading to find out more about her role, lifestyle, and favorite scary movie!

What’s your favorite part of your role?

My favorite part of my role is participating with all parties involved in settling claims. I work with injured workers, carriers, TPA’s, employers, defense firms, and applicant firms. I enjoy educating all involved and helping make a positive difference in injured workers’ lives.

If you weren’t a salesperson what would you be?
I love children and if I made a different career choice, I would have liked to be a teacher of young kids between the ages of 4-6.

Do you have a mentor that made an impact on developing your career? Who & how did they help?
My boss, Debbie Wilson, is my mentor. She is encouraging, driven and knows how to keep a positive outlook, even during the challenging parts of our jobs.

To pass the time when you travel to a conference…
Honestly, I don’t usually experience downtime when traveling for conferences. My conference days usually consist of all day booth duty followed by conference reception happy hours, dinners and post-dinner events. Sometimes I manage to find 20 minutes during the day for quiet time which I use to relax in my hotel room.

What sort of advice would you give colleagues in your industry?
Sales can be very difficult. Don’t let rejection from potential clients discourage you and stay positive and persistent. Eventually they will give you an opportunity to share how your service can be a benefit to them. Patience is a virtue in the sales world.

What’s your favorite state that you’ve visited?
My favorite state visited is Florida, particularly Miami. I love hot weather, beautiful beaches and delicious food!

In honor of October, what is your favorite scary movie?
My favorite scary movie is Halloween. There is something about the simplicity of a crazy killer in a mask that freaks me out.

Fun Fact:
I’ve worked at In-N-Out burger two times.

My motto is…
You can’t control some things that happen in life, but you can control how you react to them.
